How to fix it
- NEVER file-copy a vendor config over a live one.
- Diff by KEY SET: find keys the new version ADDED, merge those into the existing config, keep existing values.
- Re-drop escrow resources on update even when the version string is unchanged — vendors ship silent fixes.
